Yesterday, I received a free 4 oz. sample of Children’s Mucinex Multi-Symptom Cold medicine to try in my household. This sample was shared through Smiley360 and the following review and statements are strictly my own from personal actual experience. I was not paid but compensated through Smiley360 with the free sample product for my review.

If you are like me you hate taking medicine.  I have never liked taking medicine of any kind since I was as young as I can remember. Whether, it was a sore throat, a cough or a runny nose I just could not stand the taste of any medicine and as time passed being able to swallow medicine through pill form. I am a big baby. Children’s Mucinex claims that it “delivers fast acting, triple action relief from your child’s stuffy nose, cough and chest congestion relief.”

“Start the relief. Ditch the Misery. Let’s End This.”

First off, the box the medicine is packaged in is fun and friendly. The box features child like colors and a character on the front that attracts the eye of any small child. The medicine is for ages 4+ and I was lucky enough to actually have a sick 5 year old in the house to try this medicine. He recently had come down with a stuffy nose and cough and I was suffering from mucus (yes I know, very attractive) and chest congestion. So, I figured I would try it out as well. The dose recommended was 10ml every 4 hours and includes a dosing cup. The flavor that I received was very berry flavor. I am not sure if there are other flavors available.

I open the bottle that is child proof and immediately for my first test take a whiff. The scent is not kid-friendly nor friendly for my own preference. It reminds me of penicillin from the minute I begin to smell it. I do a quick taste test for myself and confirm, I do not like this taste at all. Berry but in a medicinal, penicillin strong taste kind of way. I would be surprised if any kid enjoyed taking this. This better work well for the taste.

Hours later, I feel like my cough has subsided more and I guess we will have to see how the congestion goes. Needless to say, my review is a HIT for performance but a MISS on the taste.
